D'Arne Sleeman Biography

D’Arne, Soprano and creator of In the Mood Four vocal quartet, has performed operatic roles including Donna Anna in Don Giovanni in Italy with Studio Lirico; Nella in Gianni Schicchi; and the Witch in Dido and Aeneas for Opera Box in Wales and London. She has performed in over 30 productions with the renowned Opera Queensland Chorus since 1993 and appeared as a concert soloist in 2001 and 2005. From 2004-2006 D’Arne toured all around Queensland in the title role and covered the role of Annabel for Opera Queensland’s Primary School show The Songbird.

In 2007 D’Arne sang the National Anthem for 38,000 people live at Suncorp Stadium for the Rugby League which was televised nationally and in 2008 performed the Australian and New Zealand National Anthems for one of the world’s largest sit down dinners for 4,600 in Musgrave park.

D’Arne has performed the roles of Gianetta in Elisir d’amour, Suor Infermiera in Suor Angelica and excerpts of Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier and Mimi/Musetta in La Boheme with Queensland Conservatorium. In 2002 D’Arne produced and performed in the Festival of Music and Song for Council on the Ageing at QPAC Concert Hall. For the Brisbane City Council D’Arne has performed: Christmas around the world in 2000-2001; the title role in Susanna’s Secret in 2002; Bastienna in Bastienne and Bastienna in 2003; Geraldine in Hand of Bridge, The Soprano in Murder at the Opera, and two concert series Soprano / Tenor Showdown and The History of Shakespeare through music in 2006; and in 2007 she appeared as the Velveteen Rabbit in local Brisbane composer Simon Chan’s musical adaptation of the book.

D’Arne performs regularly in South East Queensland as a concert soloist, for weddings, anthems, funerals and church services. D’Arne holds a Graduate Diploma in Voice from The Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.
